His eyes went blank again for the umpteenth time that day. He himself was not sure what was wrong with him. “And then there he was pulling his bag looking so lonely waiting for someone to pick him up.” Kamenashi continued talking nonstop since they had had their rest after the dance practice for their new song. Without any reason, the whole room went quiet as four pairs of worried eyes darted at the lone figure in the place of many.
“Are you really fine?” The eldest in the group voiced out finally, unable to bear the quietness in the room. The other just nodded as he ran his hand through his thick mane, shrugging off the question more than answering it. “Ueda.” Nakamaru’s tone changes as he became more worried than annoyed with the younger one’s behavior.
Ueda Tatsuya just sighed. “What do you want me to say? I miss him?” He replied slightly irritated from being watched over. It was Kamenashi that took the phone and shove it in front of him. “What? Call him? I don’t even know his number.”
“I do.” Kamenashi insisted. “Jin gave us all his new number before he went back to America.” He spoke. Nakamaru just sighed as he pulled the youngest member a little further from the irritated man. The older eyed the muted news on the television. The line beneath it read ‘15 more found, 6 were severely injured and the rest escaped with minor injuries’. Kamenashi sighed as he unmuted the television.
“Survivors are still being discovered from the wreckage from this morning train accident due to the malfunction of the line that runs from Amagasaki to Umeda. The limited express was said to be carrying hundreds of passenger’s from the Amagasaki station.” The lady reading the news spoke as Kamenashi fell back into his seat.
“It was not Jin after all.” Kamenashi thought to himself. Ueda’s eyes were glued to the muted television set. His eyes were looking for the slightest hope and the smallest glint of faith to see that his friends were unharmed.
When his telephone buzzed, Ueda shut his eyes tightly as he drew his breath carefully, gathering up the courage to face whatever that fate may bring him. “Hey.” The voice on the other end spoke. “I’m fine.” Was all it took for him to feel relief. Tears pooled in his eyes.
“We were not on the train.” A figure opened the door to the rehearsal room as Ueda rushed to the smaller man beside the person. “We just knew about the news at the coffee shop downstairs.” The boy called Uchi kept talking but nothing he said made sense to him anymore. All he sees was the slim man who was smiling awkwardly, standing at the door welcoming his embrace.
“I can’t stop thinking of the worst thing, Ryo.” Was all that could escape from Ueda’s lips as he hugged the slim man tightly.
“I miss you.” Nishikido whispered softly as he planted his lips on Ueda. Ignoring the other souls and beings in the room, passionately they embrace what they have. The need that they never shown to each other. The feeling of never wanting to let go.
