Poetry A Day
Purple and Yellow
As April is granted the world poetry month in America, I thought it is a good idea for me to join it as not only I could be posting a little more and having my self to commit to something for a not very long but not very short period of time.
Prompts are being posted on a daily basis on the Writer's Digest website and I will post this concurrently over there as well.
Day 3:
Messenger
Messenger
Tap tap tap,
The bottom of the pencil
Nervously scraping gently the crisp purple paper.
Scratch, scratch, scratch
The nip dance fluidly without tremble
Proudly sketching the words in my mind like a polished validator.
Kreek Kreek Kreek
The aged box of old confidential
Dusty with white lily perfumed powder, my rusty Tiger's container.
Beep beep beep
Forget the tacky flowery stencil
The metallic bitterness serves as the messenger.
Tick tick tick
The tiny innocent fingers tangoed on the metal
Soft and limber, tender and gentle, terrified of a little scraper.
Crunch crunch crunch
These yellowed letters are like a medal
Each contains a heartfelt confession and a little simple whimper.
Tap tap tap
The long slander finger typing making me mental
“I still prefer your yellow and purple paper” his voice licked my ear.
My father is an alumni of LSU and ever since I could write, I would keep my little ideas or some notes and letters from old crushes in my LSU Tigers container which is now very beat up since we moved a lot and it has been in the movers box very often...
I kind of miss how me and my friends used to pass purple post-its in class and sticking notes in our crush's locker... now kids just text or use Line and Whatsapp.
